How a more structured approach to qualification, requirements and fit-gap analysis can strengthen the route into a Microsoft Dynamics 365 project.

When InteliSense IT joined Seer 365's GYDE365 partner network in September 2024, the attraction was practical. The platform offered a more consistent way to qualify opportunities, gather requirements and carry reliable information into a Microsoft Dynamics 365 project. For customers, that matters because the quality of an ERP implementation is shaped long before configuration starts.

A rushed discovery can leave a project with vague scope, hidden assumptions and estimates that are difficult to defend. Teams may repeat the same conversations during sales, discovery and mobilisation, yet still reach design with gaps in their understanding. GYDE365 is intended to give those early activities more structure. It does not replace a Dynamics 365 consultant or decide what a business should do. It gives the project team a clearer evidence base for those decisions.

The partnership remains current: Seer 365 lists InteliSense IT among its GYDE365-powered partners. The original announcement focused on Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management projects, while the present GYDE365 platform also supports Business Central and Dynamics 365 CRM scenarios.

Three key takeaways

  1. 1.Better discovery creates a better starting point. Structured requirements and fit-gap evidence make scope, estimates and responsibilities easier to challenge before delivery begins.
  2. 2.Automation supports judgement; it does not replace it. Survey-driven capture and generated outputs still need review by customer stakeholders, functional consultants and solution architects.
  3. 3.The handover matters as much as the sales process. Information gathered during qualification and discovery should remain traceable when the work moves into solution design and implementation.

What does the InteliSense IT and Seer 365 partnership cover?

InteliSense IT subscribed to the GYDE365 platform to support customer engagement and the early stages of Dynamics 365 delivery. The 2024 announcement named two applications in particular: GYDE365-Qualify and GYDE365-Discover. They deal with related questions, but at different levels of detail.

GYDE365-Qualify is the lighter starting point. It uses structured questions to build an indicative view of the Microsoft business applications, modules, licences and implementation range that may be relevant. That can help a customer decide whether a deeper ERP assessment is justified. The output is an orientation tool, not a final solution design or binding proposal.

GYDE365-Discover goes further. Seer 365 describes it as a survey-driven application for collecting business requirements and producing documentation that can include a requirements breakdown, fit-gap analysis and project and licence estimates. Sections can be allocated to different subject-matter experts, which is useful when finance, procurement, manufacturing, warehousing, sales and technology teams all need to contribute.

That structure is particularly relevant to a Dynamics 365 Finance implementation or Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management programme. Enterprise ERP decisions often cross legal entities, reporting structures, master data, integrations, security roles, manufacturing processes and warehouse operations. A single workshop or generic requirements list is unlikely to expose all of those dependencies.

Why structured Dynamics 365 discovery matters

Discovery is where a business explains how work happens today, what needs to change and which constraints the future platform must respect. It is also where the implementation partner tests whether those expectations fit standard Dynamics 365 functionality, need an extension or integration, or should be challenged as part of the wider ERP transformation.

The value is not simply having more requirements. A long list can still be ambiguous, duplicated or detached from business outcomes. Good discovery connects each requirement to an owner, process, priority and decision. It also records what is out of scope. That creates a clearer route from an early conversation to fit-gap analysis, solution architecture, effort estimates and delivery planning.

A structured platform can make that work easier to organise. It can keep responses in a common format, show which areas are incomplete and reduce the amount of manual document assembly. The consultant still has to interpret conflicts, identify missing context and decide where further workshops or technical investigation are needed.

Where the platform helps and where people still decide

  • Qualification What GYDE365 can support: Consistent questions and an indicative view of platform, modules, licences and implementation range.. Where human judgement remains: Whether the opportunity is viable, which assumptions need testing and who must join the next conversation.
  • Requirements What GYDE365 can support: Survey sections distributed across business areas with progress and response tracking.. Where human judgement remains: Whether responses describe the real process, expose exceptions and reflect an agreed future state.
  • Fit-gap analysis What GYDE365 can support: A structured comparison between stated needs and relevant Dynamics 365 capabilities.. Where human judgement remains: Whether to configure, extend, integrate, change the process or reject a requirement.
  • Project handover What GYDE365 can support: Reusable outputs that carry discovery information into mobilisation and design.. Where human judgement remains: How scope, risks, dependencies, ownership and acceptance criteria are governed during delivery.

The useful boundary is simple: the platform organises evidence; accountable people make the decision.

What can customers expect from the process?

For a customer, the immediate benefit should be a more orderly evaluation. Different teams can contribute without relying on one person to translate the whole organisation. Responses can be reviewed together, gaps can be raised earlier and the proposed Dynamics 365 ERP scope can be traced back to stated business needs.

That does not mean every discovery should be completed remotely or entirely through a questionnaire. Complex requirements still need conversation. A manufacturer may describe planning in one way while production, procurement and finance each experience it differently. A public-sector organisation may need detailed governance, accessibility, security and information-management review. The structured input helps the consultant see where those conversations are most valuable.

The same principle applies to estimates. Early ranges are useful when assumptions are visible. They become risky when an indicative figure is treated as a commitment before data migration, integrations, reporting, non-functional requirements and change impact have been understood. A responsible Dynamics 365 implementation partner should explain what the estimate includes, what it excludes and which decisions could materially change it.

A clearer handover into implementation

Sales-to-delivery handover is one of the points where context can disappear. A statement made during qualification becomes a line in a proposal, but the reasoning behind it is lost. Delivery teams then have to rediscover the requirement or discover that the customer and partner interpreted it differently.

Using a common platform across qualification and discovery can reduce that break. The project team can see the source requirement, the fit-gap position and the assumptions that influenced scope. It is then easier to identify open decisions before design, confirm who owns them and keep the implementation aligned with what was agreed.

Amo Khan, Managing Director at InteliSense IT: "We quickly recognised the GYDE365 platform as a valuable addition to our customer engagement process."

Saleem Chohan, Head of Business Development, also framed the partnership around capacity without lowering the standard of customer engagement. Seer 365's CEO, Sam Dharmasiri, described the aim as helping InteliSense streamline its processes, take on more work and manage risk as the business grows. Those are aims for the partnership rather than guaranteed project outcomes. The evidence should come from the consistency of discovery, the quality of handover and the decisions customers can make with the resulting information.

How the partnership fits InteliSense IT's work

InteliSense IT has worked with Microsoft Dynamics 365 since 2010. Its current website describes a team of more than 50 colleagues and more than 170 projects delivered across transformation, recovery and optimisation. That experience matters because structured software is most useful when the people reviewing the output understand finance, supply chain, manufacturing, data, integrations and organisational change.

For a new ERP implementation, GYDE365 can support the move from initial interest to a defensible discovery. For a system upgrade, it can help distinguish technical replacement from process change. In a Dynamics 365 project recovery, the same discipline can help a team restate requirements, expose unresolved gaps and rebuild a controlled scope. The route will differ, but the need for traceable decisions is the same.

The partnership is therefore not simply about producing documents faster. Its real test is whether customers enter delivery with a better understanding of what they are buying, why the proposed design fits and where uncertainty still exists. That is a much more useful measure than the number of forms completed or workshops removed.

Considering Microsoft Dynamics 365? Start with the evidence

If your organisation is considering Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics 365 Finance, Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management or a wider Microsoft business applications programme, the first step should be a clear assessment of the processes, data, integrations and controls the future system must support.

InteliSense IT can use structured GYDE365 discovery alongside consultant-led review to help you assess fit, expose dependencies and define a realistic path into implementation. The objective is not to make a complex decision look simple. It is to make the decision understandable before delivery begins.

Frequently asked questions

What is GYDE365?

GYDE365 is Seer 365's platform for supporting the evaluation, design and delivery of Microsoft Dynamics 365 business applications. It uses structured questions, analysis and generated outputs to organise parts of the qualification and discovery process.

What is the difference between GYDE365-Qualify and GYDE365-Discover?

GYDE365-Qualify provides an early, indicative view based on a shorter set of questions. GYDE365-Discover gathers more detailed requirements and can produce fit-gap, scope, licence and project-estimation information for further review.

Does GYDE365 replace a Dynamics 365 consultant?

No. The platform can standardise data capture and organise outputs, but consultants and customer stakeholders still need to interpret requirements, resolve conflicts, test assumptions and make design and delivery decisions.

Which Microsoft Dynamics 365 products can GYDE365 assess?

Seer 365 currently describes support for Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, and Dynamics 365 CRM applications. The original InteliSense partnership announcement concentrated on Finance and Supply Chain Management projects.

Can structured discovery help with an upgrade or recovery project?

Yes. The questions will differ from a new implementation, but structured requirements and fit-gap review can help clarify what must be retained, changed, redesigned or removed during an upgrade, migration or ERP project recovery.
