Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd is a private company headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK. An accelerating market has lead the company from raising £25m in April 2011 to £100m in December 2016.
Oxford Nanopore has developed the world’s first and only Nanopore DNA sequencer, the MinION. The MinION is a portable, real time, long-read, low cost device that has been designed to bring easy biological analysis to anyone, whether in scientific research, education or a range of real world applications such as disease/pathogen surveillance, environmental monitoring, food chain surveillance, self-quantification or even micro-gravity biology.
3PL Integration

To date, Nanopore have successfully integrated with two third party logistics companies (3PL) and have future plans to integrate for a third time using the InteliSense IT integration Hub and 3PL solution. A 3PL solution that controls stock at batch and serial number level with little to no user intervention.

Nanopore have no need to call their 3PL companies on a daily basis. The integration handles the communication between the two business entities.

Benefits to Nanopore

An integrated transportation solution forces companies to look at their network in a more holistic and creative way thus, creating a model for continuous improvement by providing all the order data, which is turned into information using our 3PL solution. Here are some other benefits that Nanopore soon came to realise: -

  • Reduced management time – The integration takes care of the majority of the “nitty gritty” details and alerts users when manual intervention is required.
  • Enhanced shipment visibility – Logistics made easy with a centralised hub to capture issues for users to maintain and correct inbound and outbound activities.
  • Early problem detection – Tying into the above point, where a log is stored in the integration hub to unify issues together.
  • Proactive IT approach to all business-related issues – To every business scenario a scalable IT resolution is built into the 3PL integration hub framework so users need little hands on experience to understand how to resolve 3PL issues swiftly.
  • Inventory Reduction –The ability to know the physical on-hand stock and reduce the amount of inventory to a minimum, leading to lower inventory costs.
  • Optimised capacity utilisation and flexibility – leading to reduced requirement for additional non-core capacity.
